A wise man once stated, “Quitters are not
winners and those who easily give up cannot go up in life.”
winners and those who easily give up cannot go up in life.”
The truth is that
tough times are not forever, but, those who go through and survive them will
come out with amazing results. Someone once said that, “A winner is someone who
gets up one more time than he is knocked down.” Once you stand to your feet to
make something out of your life, you must meet mountains on the way. It is the
inherent ability to withstand the mountains with persistence and focus towards
your goal that tag you a winner.
Personally, I had encountered failures in many
areas of my life. The moment I voiced out my vision and purpose, failures
become abound. Financial stagnation, friends turning against me in business,
police cases often, parents disappointed in me because I refused to look for
job with my result and business failures etc. in all of these, I didn’t give
up. I kept on pressing and I’m still pressing. It is my purpose that kept my
light still burning. It is my vision of my future that I saw that kept me
going. The bible says “And after you have suffered a little while, then, God
will restore and settle you.” Emphasis added – 1pet 5:10. So, sufferings or
failures are part of the process of MAKING and REMOLDING you to that person God
want you to become.
Failure is not the end of life, it is a unique
opportunity for you to retreat, re-evaluate and start all over again in a
better and intelligent manner. Dale Carnegie once said, “Most of the important
things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying
when there seemed to be no hope at all.” Challenges are opportunities for self-improvements.
You must never allow your current situation to change your future destination.
Trials are normal, even so, triumphs are the rewards of those who preserved
through the season of adversity and overcame. In the words of Albert Einstein,
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
When you feel like giving up, there are five
(5) things you must not fail to do:
Delay your action, reaction or decision
Before you give up, hold on! Never make
permanent decisions during temporary crisis. Do you feel like taking a drastic
decision, ending your marriage, closing down your business or walling away from
God and His purpose in your life? Let me encourage you to delay your intended
action, reaction or decision until you have considered the next point.
Talk to God about your feelings and intentions
God wants to hear from you and He also wants to
talk to you about your present situation. He is willing to help you out of your
situation. God wants to give you a revelation for your situation. God sees and
He speaks.
Talk to somebody you respect
Sometimes, it seems difficult to practice
talking to God in the times of depression or discouragement. At such times,
before you give up, step up, reach out and talk with somebody you really
respect. Be open to freely talk about your circumstances and disposition.
Think about the short and long term
consequences of your action or decision
Today’s decision may solve the immediate
problem but create a more complicated situation in the future. Think broadly
and act intelligently.
Read about people who have gone through similar
situations before you
Nothing is new under the sun. You are not the
first to experience what is happening to you, someone else had survived a more
challenging situation than yours. Before you quit, read about different survivors
around the world. Listen to the success stories of the other people. Watch inspirational
videos of great achievers and don’t forget to read God’s word. It is full of
light and life that will generate spirited inspiration for your life.
